It seemed like everyone was talking about The Women by Kristin Hannah, and they all raved about the book. I was unsure about starting it since I haven't had much luck with Kristin Hannah books, but I decided to give it a try. I listened to the audio version, and yes, just like everyone else, I loved the book. The historical fiction book kept me interested till the last page, is well written, and I was left with no choice but to love it.
The book does a good job of depicting both the Vietnam War and what the US was like during that time while also telling the story of Frankie McGrath, following her through her journey of signing up to be an army nurse in the Vietnam War, serving two tours, falling in love, coming home to the political turmoil in the US, rock bottom, recovery from addiction, and learning to live with PTSD. The journey is filled with highs and lows, but the reader always feels a strong connection with Frankie throughout her entire story.
The only way to describe The Women by Kristin Hannah is that it is a really good book, from historical accuracy to character depth and everything that makes a book unforgettable.
The Women by Kristin Hannah is a must if you haven't already read it! Be ready to take an emotional journey with Frankie McGrath before, during, and after the Vietnam War.
