Mixed feelings about this book

I had a love-hate relationship with The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros throughout the book. At first, I was hopeful it was just taking me a while to get into the story or that the beginning was slow but it never got better, and my mixed emotions never really changed. It was a combination of elements in the story that made me feel this way let's break it down.
Characters
The characters lost me there were too many and hard to keep track of them all. Three main characters alternated telling the story each character then had two to three supporting characters. Is your head spinning yet? Because mine was.
Georgia Stanton- Is trying to deal with the loss of her great-grandmother, divorce from her ex-husband a movie producer who had the rights to her great-grandmother's books, and finding herself after being named the Ice Queen by the tabloids. All the while her mom Ava has sold the rights to Scarlett's ( her great-grandmother) only unfinished book to Noah a young romance writer to finish the story.
Noah Harrison- Is a romance author who has never been able to find love of his own. He has been asked to finish Scarlett's unfinished book, an opportunity he can't pass up, he will soon learn the complicated dynamics of the Stanton Family and it is about much more than finishing a book.
Scarlett Stanton- Is a famous romance writer who has recently passed away and also Georgia's great-grandmother who raised her. Scarlett has an unfinished book and it's her own love story taking place during World War II with Georgia's great grandfather an American pilot Jameson Stanton.
Each character brings something unique to the story and helps all of the plot lines intertwine but it is hard at times to keep track of all of them.
Plot Lines
The book has two alternating plots the modern-day story of Georgia and Noah and the second is the story of Scarlett during the war.
The modern-day plot is about Georgia and Noah trying to finish Scarlett's book together. At first, they cannot stand each other, but those feelings eventually grow into affection. A love story in itself it was my least favorite storyline. The story was drawn out with a lot of supporting characters.
The second plot takes place during the war with Jameson and Scarlett. Her sister Constance plays a large role in the story. It's a beautiful love story that takes you back in time and has you feeling the true love and connection Jameson and Scarlett shared for each other.
This was my favorite part of the book and I loved each chapter told by Scarlett, part of me wished this was the entire book.
Overview
Overall, I thought there were too many characters leaving the reader confused, and uninterested while not loving the story. On the other hand, I loved the story that Scarlett told about her sister Constance and Jameson had me wanting to keep reading. The modern-day story with Georgia and Noah was hard to get through and hard to keep track of.
While The Things We Leave Unfinished was not my favorite book and I wouldn't call it a must-read it still left me with mixed feelings.
