"Everyone Here Is Lying" by Shari Lapena

I'm not a big thriller reader and Everyone Here Is Lying by Shari Lapena was a book club pick. I chose the Audible version and I loved it! I couldn't stop listening and finished the book in a week.
In the small town of Stanhope it seems that everyone lives behind white picket fences and has pretty normal lives, that is until Avery Wooler a nine-year-old girl goes missing, the day her dad's mistress ends their long affair.
The police are now looking for Avery and as time goes on everyone slowly starts to lose hope for the young girl. As more suspects and characters are introduced more twists and turns come while the reader is still left with the burning question where is Avery Wooler and what happened to her?
The story is so well written you feel like you are watching an episode of Law and Order or Dateline. You get the perspective of everyone in the story. The reader feels with Avery's mother Erin and her pain while the whereabouts of her daughter are still unknown, you are intrigued by the police's perspective of trying to unravel the case, and you are also suspicious and concerned about the young suspects being questioned. Each chapter leaves you wanting more details from each character.
The book is written in the third person so you are hearing everyone's perspective and not just the main characters. Each supporting character plays an important role in the plot and the secrets this small town is keeping. I listened to this novel and the narrator was perfect for the story, she made you feel like you were in Stanhope looking for Avery.
Although I'm not a huge thriller reader this book had just enough suspense, mystery, and momentum to have me fully invested and in love with the book. If you are looking for a thriller or a must read I highly recommend Everyone Here Is Lying by Shari Lapena.
