Book Review

It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover is the second book in the Lilly Bloom series. While I liked the book and it was an easy read I did not like it as much as the first book of the series It Ends With Us. I read the two books back to back which I liked since the second book picks up right where the first one left off.
Lilly is slowly recovering from her divorce from Ryle, juggling her florist shop, and being a new mom when she bumps into Atlas Corrigan one morning. She hasn't seen him since he helped her escape Ryle's abuse, but when instant sparks fly on the street that day will the pair finally get the chance they've always wanted?
When Lilly and Atlas start dating and Ryle continues to make life difficult for Lilly, Atlas' past will also come back to haunt him, when he discovers he has a younger brother who needs his help. While Lilly and Atlas each work out issues from their past they also begin a new romantic relationship that is everything they wanted since they met in high school.
The book is told from the perspectives of Lilly and Atlas in alternating chapters. While I did like the chapters from Lilly's perspective better, it was an interesting take on the storyline to have dual perspectives. Even though Lilly and Atlas have known each other for a long time I felt like the story rushed and forced the relationship.
The book was slow at times and uneventful, some of the scenarios between the background characters seemed a little hard to believe how all the pieces fit together so perfectly at the end.
While I liked this book I did not love it, but it did give closure to Lilly's story and the series.
