And here's what I thought.

Reading The Highest Rated Book on

I thought it would be interesting to read the highest-rated book on my Goodreads want-to-read list. So I sorted by rating, and the top book was The Women by Kristin Hannah.

I was a little disappointed ( Kristin Hannah fans, hear me out). I've only read two of her books, one took me a long time to get through, and I didn't like it (Night Road), and the other I did not finish ( The Great Alone). I was a little overwhelmed to start a book by her, knowing my history with her books. Was I going to be the only one not able to finish it? Or was Kristin Hannah going to redeem herself with this book?

I'm happy to report I loved The Women and agreed with the ratings. And yes, Kristin Hannah has redeemed herself as an author for me.

The Women is about Frankie McGrath, her journey from signing up to be a nurse in the Vietnam War, serving two tours, her return home, dealing with addiction, and PTSD. The book is so well written that you feel like you are with Frankie on this journey.

This was a perfect example of needing an extra push to try something new, and you can't always judge an author or book on past experiences.

Yes, The Women by Kristin Hannah deserves the high ratings it has received, and I'm so glad I read it!
