Finish The Book!

You will thank me later.

When I first started going to book club I could barely get through the book each month and then we would discuss the book and I would stop reading it and start reading the next month's book with the promise to myself that I would have next month's book finished before the next get together. I would never go back and finish those books and sometimes I still wonder what happened in them as people still talk about them or say they were their favorite books.
As I started to read more I became a better reader able to finish that month's book and leave fewer books half-read.
Last year when I started my reading challenge of 25 books in 12 months I also made a promise to myself that no matter how long it took or what I thought of the book I would finish it.
The challenge and promise I made to myself was a game changer. Every time I marked a book as read no matter how I felt about it, I was proud and felt good about my reading and I always learned something new along the way.
While some books took me longer to read than I wanted it was okay because I was challenging myself in ways I never expected. By finishing the book I found myself loving a book that started slow, falling in love with the characters over time, watching the story evolve, allowing myself to enjoy the plot twists, and truly enjoy the entire book.
Sometimes it's easy to stop halfway through and move on to the next book. I'm here to tell you to finish the book. It may take you two months to get through but you may have also found your new favorite book.
Finish the book, you can thank me later!
