A nonfiction read.

As you may know, I love everything reality TV and reading books by reality celebrities. When Cue The Sun! The Invention of Reality TV by Emily Nussbaum came up as a suggestion on Good Reads I quickly added it to my want-to-read list and have been looking at it ever since. While I had been into my romcom reading I decided to switch it up with this nonfiction book. Maybe I wasn't ready for a nonfiction read or perhaps I thought the book would be something completely different or I didn't care for the book, whatever the reasoning this was not a top book for me.
Cue The Sun! is a nonfiction book about the genre of reality TV, starting in the early 1900's and working its way to modern television. While the book was interesting and I learned a lot I felt that it became more interesting when it started talking about reality television in the 2000's. I struggled through most of the book and was ready for it to end.
While there were some interesting facts and tidbits the book was slow and dragged out at times with lots of backstories and facts that took away from the overall history and point of the book.
It was a detailed account of reality television that did not keep me interested or engaged as a reader. If the information presented differently I would have enjoyed the book more. I would have preferred less backstory about the players over the years and more about the actual shows, making them, and ideas.
Cue The Sun! The Invention of Reality TV by Emily Nussbaum even if you are a true reality TV fan this book is not worth the read and you can pass on it. Overall, I found the book to be long, drawn out, and boring at times.
