An okay read.

Book Review for The Arrivals by Meg Mitchell Moore

I gave The Arrivals by Meg Mitchell Moore three stars on Good Reads, it was not as good as some of her other books but I did like it better than The Admissions. Unlike her other books it is told from the third person and it doesn't have as much character depth and you don't feel like you know the characters as well.

The book was good, but it was not something I couldn't put down. However, I also didn't struggle to get through it. There was no real climax; it just moved along, and it was more of a good story than a page-turner.

Ginny and William live in Burlington Vermont and are empty nesters who have enjoyed the quiet since their children have flown the nest. This summer much to their surprise they will have a full house.

Lillian the oldest has packed up her 3-year-old daughter and newborn son and gone to stay with her parents. While she is in the throws of early motherhood she is keeping a secret about her husband's infidelity from them saying she just needs some time away and that he is busy working.

Steven is the middle child expecting, a baby with his wife Jane. The couple has decided to visit Steven's family for the weekend with some complications with the pregnancy they will need to stay for the entire summer. Steven is hiding a secret from his parents about their childcare plans for when the baby is born.

Rachel is the youngest in her late twenties and lives in New York City. She is trying to find her way with her career, balancing the bills, and a breakup. When a surprising twist comes into play for her she will share her secrets with her mother Ginny and head home to the comfort of her parents.

With all the kids at Ginny and Williams's house, they will have to work together to function as a family again while working through the secrets and hurdles they are facing in life.

The Arrivals by Meg Mitchell Moore is a warm story that I found to be good, but it does not hold the magic of some of her other books and is not a page-turner.
