Alex Thornhill in "Summer Stage" and "Two Truths And A Lie"

Connecting the characters in Meg Mitchell Moore books.

In Summer Stage and Two Truths And A Lie by Meg Mitchell Moore we follow the character Alexa Thornhill during different times in her life. In Summer Stage she only plays a minor role but in Two Truths And A Lie she is one of the main characters. I didn't know this when I read either book, but I connected the character as I continued reading Two Truths And A Lie.

While listening to Two Truths And A Lie I kept thinking why does this character sounds so familiar it wasn't until she started talking about her YouTube channel "Silk Stockings" that I put the character together from Summer Stage.

In Two Truths And A Lie we follow Alexa during her eighteenth summer and she struggles with keeping the secret that she turned down her spot at Colby College, breaking up with her two best friends from high school, dealing with the loss of her stepfather, and her new boyfriend dying in a car accident. We see her growth through this book watch her go from a teenager to an adult and decide to move to California. In Two Truths And A Lie, we are invested in Alexa's story and captivated by what she will do next.

While Alexa Thornhill has a small role in Summer Stage we can also see where she is in life and that she is thriving and continuing to heal in California, she is Timothy Trevino's assistant. In the book he lets her family stay at his house in California while he is on Block Island directing the play. We see Alexa have a heartful lunch with Sam Trevino where she talks about her experience with her YouTube channel losing her boyfriend, and how not going to college was the right decision for her.

In both books, Alexa is a likable character that the reader becomes invested in and want to know her story. I would start with Two Truths And A Lie and then read Summer Stage since what we learn in Summer Stage will be a spoiler for Two Truths And A Lie.
